The State of the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Portugal, a memorandum of understanding to promote and encourage cooperation between the two countries in the field of tourism, in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, HE Roy Hancyril de Machit Minister of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Portugal.
The agreement was signed by the UAE side by HE Mohammed Khamis bin Hareb Al Muhairi, director general of the National Council for Tourism and Antiquities, and the Portuguese side, President of the Portuguese Tourism Board.
HE Mohammed Khamis bin Hareb Al Muhairi, after signing the agreement, saying that the agreement aims to enhance and strengthen the friendly relations between the two countries through the upgrading of bilateral cooperation in the field of tourism, aware of both sides of the importance of tourism in promoting economic development, mutual understanding and goodwill and closer ties between the peoples.
He added that the agreement to promote and encourage cooperation between the two countries and facilitate the influx of tourists and encourage cooperation between the tourist agencies, corporations and other institutions working in the field of tourism.
The agreement also provides that the Contracting Parties shall promote mutual promotion of tourism through the exchange of information and publicity, promotional and other materials, in order to deliver a better idea of the tourists two countries with regard to the tourist areas and to increase the influx of tourists in both directions attraction.
Al Muhairi said that the Convention in particular, came to promote cooperation in the field of sustainable tourism development, and the development of special interest tourism such as rural tourism, cultural tourism, marine tourism and others.
He added: will be during the coming period, the exchange of visits by experts and the organization of workshops, lectures and seminars between the parties.
He stressed that the agreement is important in the exchange of information and documents related to the field of tourism and hotel education and training, and the development of all possible forms of cooperation in this area, including job training and exchange of students, teachers and experts from the tourism professions each schools, and organizing seminars and workshops for tourism officials and employees.
He concluded his statement saying that the tourism cooperation agreement between the UAE and Portugal five-year term is automatically renewed and that it is the development of relations of cooperation and friendship between the two distinct.
