Egypt hopes to resume flights with Russia in the first half of 2016




Count Egyptian side on the resumption of flights with Russia, which will contribute to the return of Russian tourists to Egypt after the suspension of tourist trips between the two countries as a result of Russian plane disaster in Sinai.

He said Civil Aviation Minister Hossam Kamal after the end of the meetings of the Intergovernmental Economic Commission between the two countries (Russia and Egypt) this week: "The negotiations with Russia on resumption of flights going on, and that the Russian side in preparation for the resumption of these flights."

The Egyptian minister added that Egypt hopes to resume flights to and from Russia in the first half of 2016.

Before that Cairo International Airport administration revealed security measures to tighten controls at the airport include the purchase of two working X-ray inspection of the value of each one of them about 9 million euros. The aim of these systems to check and ground transportation and detection of explosive materials.

The Russian aviation authority had been delivered at the end of the month of January last Egyptian authorities recommendations included additional measures to ensure aviation security at Egyptian airports.

And it made the recommendations after a team of Russian experts assess the effectiveness of the security measures taken at Egyptian airports, as part of efforts to return of Russian tourists to Egypt after Moscow announced stop flights to and from Egypt for security reasons on the background of the incident passenger plane in the Sinai.

Currently it operates Egypt to tighten measures at airports in order to restore the Russian tourists, which is the lifeblood of the tourism sector of Egypt, where the number of Russian citizens who went to Egypt in order to tourism in 2014 amounted to about 3.16 million tourists, who make up about 31% of the total number of tourists who visited Egypt in that year.
